Aaliyah Dana Haaughton gained prominence after the release of her debut album Age Ain't Nothing But an Number in 1994. When she was just 15, the album achieved Gold status. R. Kelly was a significant influence in this project which put the singer into the limelight. In 1996 she worked alongside Jermaine Dupri as well as Timbaland to record her follow-up album One In A Million which contained the number-one hit single If You Only Knew. She is of Indian heritage and was born Connecticut. Her stage name Mann is a short form of her married name Mankad. Aarti Magnumdar is her formal name, but she has also used Aarti Magumdar. Her acting career began in early 2000 with small appearances on television and in films. Some of her most notable roles include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. She's appeared in many commercials for Volvo's international automobile maker. Her acting career continues with her home in Los Angeles, where she lives with her daughter and husband.
